| Title: A Bottom-up Solution for a Smart Grid: the Intelligent Service Panel | |
| Abstract: The electric industry is transforming from a centralized, producer-controlled network to a Smart Grid that is an automated, widely distributed energy delivery network. Implementation of a Smart Grid presents unprecedented opportunity and challenges. For example, increased penetration of renewable energy will pose challenges to the design and operation of these distributed systems, and may raise costs for many consumers. Moreover, a Smart Grid will increase data communication and therefore raises important issues of standardization, cyber security, and privacy. One cost effective solution to address these challenges is to automate a key component of a local electric system, the power distribution panel, to enable it to function as an intelligent gateway to the electric grid, a dynamic power distribution device, and an automatic local energy management center. I will focus on how an “intelligent service panel” will addresses these challenges and is a viable, cost effective solution. | |
| Biography: Hongxia Chen is the founder and CEO of Duli Technology LLC (www.dulitechnology.com). Duli Tech is a clean Tech company focusing on developing innovative products to increase energy efficiency and reduce renewable energy system cost. Prior to founding Duli Technology LLC, Ms. Chen worked for several high-Tech companies in North American and China and engaged in the full cycle of electronic systems design and development. This includes integrated circuit test systems, devices for a smart metering network, and instruments for testing fiber optical communication devices and modules. After founding Duli Technology LLC, Ms Chen invented several energy efficient related products. The Intelligent Service Panel is one of her inventions. | |
